Climate : Excellent level of cumulative temperatures and the lowest rainfall in the Hérault. Strong marine influence due to proximity to the sea.
 
It was Greek navigators who first taught the local population to cultivate vines way back in the IV century BC. Later, Pliny and Cicero sang their praises. There was a lively trade in Beziers made amphora which are still being found throughout the Mediterranean basin. Maps by Cassini, dating from the XVII and XVIII centuries, illustrate the Plateau de Vendres and other great domaines, citing especially the quality of the soil.
