FETE OF ST GEORGES D’ORQUES
 
Programme from 19 to 26 April 2009

 

Sunday 19 avril :

A great all-day tasting at the Fontcaude golf course featuring St Georges d’Orques wines.

Monday 20 – Friday 24 April :

Each day, four cru St George producers will be presenting their wines at the Comptoir des Vins, Mas de Saporta at Lattes

Monday 20 – Sunday 26 April :

Paintings on the theme ‘Wine Producing and our countryside’ in the Salle des Rencontres and the Salle des Marriages with contributions from St Georges d’Orques schools.

Friday 24 – Sunday 26 April :

Exhibition of classic and historic St Georges d’Orques postcards at the Salle des Anciens.

Thursday 23 April  :

18 h 00 : Mass in Occitan celebrated by Father Rouquette with polyphonic sacred music by the ‘cor d’eau’ choir.

Friday 24 April :

18 h 00 : Peeling of bells

18 h 30 : Launch of exhibitions with a wine reception at the Maison des Anciens.

Saturday 25 April :

Starting from the Cave. Gain access to wine tastings by buying a glass and glass holder for 4 €. There will be 14 halts on the trail each marked by a St Georges wine and a game.

09 h 30 : Opening of the Pasejade St Georgienne, a guided visit to the historic centre open to all. Notes and guides will be available – start at the Cave.

10 h 00 - 13 h 00 : Flower market and school fair – Place Jean Jaurès.

10 h 00 : Jog for approx 10 kms (at your own pace) - Visit the St Georges domaines and the old village : just the thing for keen cross country runners.

12 h 00 : Break at the bull rearing centre Vitou, Vellas

14 h 00 : Next stage of the St George walk/rally circuit – starting at the Cave Cooperative.

15 h 00 : Bull run by the Vauvert training centre : animals from the Vitou, Vellas centre.

17 h 00 : Bandido manades Vitou, Vellas. Music throughout the day by the St Géorgienne school of music.

18 h 30 : Installation of new members of the Brotherhood of St Georges wines, a celebratory drink for all.

Sunday 26 April  :

10 h 00 - 17 h 00 : Attic clearance sale (no professionals) at the Cave Cooperative. Stall 3 € (gates open for set-up at 0700hrs)

11 h 00 : Mass celebrated by Father Merle followed by a wine of honour.

12 h 00 : Meal at the Cave – prior booking required

16 h 00 : Parade of St Georges horsemen through the village – meet at the Occitanie roundabout.

17 h 00 : Blessing of horsemen on the Place de la Mairie and wine of honour in the Lapaque park. Music for the day provided by the St Géorgienne school of music.
